Album „Migrations”, to szósty studyjny album tego brytyjskiego producenta. Po sukcesie „The North Borders” wydanego w kwietniu 2013 roku oraz trasie koncertowej po 30 krajach na całym świecie, Green postanowił poświęcić się produkcji nowego materiału, w międzyczasie występując jako dj.
Nieustająca podróż oraz rozłąka z domem stanowiły bazę do powstania płyty. Jak sam stwierdził: „Moja osobista idea tożsamości,to skąd jestem i co jest moim domem, miały znaczący wpływ na tę płytę i znajdujące się na niej motywy migracyjne”.
Wiele z utworów znajdujących się na krążku powstała właśnie w trasie. Lotnisko, autokar, hotel, stanowiły niekiedy warsztat pracy autora. Jak można było się przekonać już w przeszłości, Bonobo w swojej produkcji używa przeróżnych instrumentów, jak i dźwięków (tutaj warto wymienić chociażby samplowane odgłosy windy, deszczu, czy silnika okrętowego) łącząc je w zjawiskowo brzmiącą spójną całość.
Album, który w Polsce ukaże się 13 stycznia 2017 roku nakładem wydawnictwa No Paper Records, zawiera 12 utworów. Przy ich produkcji Greenowi towarzyszyli w studio tacy goście jak: Rhye, Nicole Miglis, marokańska Innov Gnava, czy Nick Murphy (znany również jako Chet Faker).
Piosenką promującą płytę jest Kerala, od której to rozpoczęła się właściwie praca nad nią. Oprócz fuzji instrumentów oraz tanecznego rytmu, na który zdecydowany wpływ miało didżejskie doświadczenie Bonobo, zastosowano w nim również sample takich wokalistek, jak Brandy oraz znanej z poprzedniego albumu Szjerdene. Całość okraszona została intrygującym teledyskiem z aktorką Gemmą Arterton w roli głównej.
Jak określił to sam Green na Instagramie: „Praca zajęła odrobinę więcej czasu niż przewidywano, ale będzie to warte Waszego oczekiwania. Naprawdę wierzę, że ten album będzie najlepszym z dotychczas wydanych”. Skoro autor tak twierdzi, warto to sprawdzić.
